An unseasonal 1st winter Male Pied Flycatcher seen today on the outskirts of Granada City. Strange bird, not just for the fact that it should have gone a good while ago but it acted more like a chat than a flycatcher spending 90% of its time running around on the ground feeding.

Jayne and I headed up to Granada this afternoon to have a look at the new Nevada Shopping centre. On the way had a dark phase Booted Eagle (Aguililla Calzada / Hieraaetus pennatus) fly over the road just to the east of Santa fe. Not an uncommon wintering bird down on the coast but much less common inland.
Shopping centre was quite spectacular if you enjoy shopping and will be even better when it all opens in the spring.

A day hiking on the Tour de Mont Blanc | Blogging from the Pyrenees

I’m in Chamonix in the French Alps at the moment for the BAIML (British Association of International Mountain Leaders) AGM. Came out a few days early to explore the area and today did a hike on a section of the Tour de Mont Blanc – great hike with stunning views! Take a look at our blog for more info and pics.
